Good for those with IBS, but awful taste & smell!
2I've tried a lot of different protein powders due to having a very restrictive diet and having digestive problems with the majority of protein shakes. I'm vegan with soya, gluten/wheat and FODMAPS intolerance, so my options are limited. Pros- The digestibility of this shake is good, a little bloating but nothing terrible and mixes fairly well although there is a definite chalky texture to it. Cons- The smell is absoloutley disgusting, my batch smells like fish and the taste is bad too, It makes me feel sick and I really have to push through to actually finish off a shake, I have tried mixing it with the flavour drops from this site and still not enough to mask the taste. Goes Well With:Make sure you mix/diltue it with enough liquid/flavour to mask the taste. Plant based milks & flavour drops.

Great product, not so great taste
3The macros in this are really good and helps me to hit my protein targets on a daily basis. The taste on the other hand, initially was almost repulsive but after a little time you do get used to it. The powder seems finer than your other typically Vegan protein, so personally it lasted a lot longer than it usually would. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing though in terms of Mixability it can make it quite difficult. If you're thinking about getting this product, I'd get the 1KG to begin with and also get a flavour boost to help combat the taste. Something like Chocolate Cherry works wonders. I'd like to see MyProtein bring in at least one other basic flavour like Chocolate, then I'd be more inclined to get a bag again!Goes Well With:Flavour Boost

Mixes Well and Has Little Flavour
5Mixes really easily. Doesn't have much taste, and what taste it does have is a bit cardboardy as some have mentioned, but it's not unpleasant at all. I just mix it with 250ml of water and throw it down. It's higher in fibre than I expected too, which is probably a good thing overall but took my digestive system a couple of days to adjust to.

Better than expected
5At first I thought that being unflavoured I would hate its taste, but it's actually alright. It reminds me of dry peanut butter, don't know how to explain it better, or maybe a little like flour. I don't actually mix it with anything other than water and it's not tasty but it's ok. You can add some of My Protein Flavdrops to change the taste but it's fine even without.Goes Well With:Plain water - but can add flavouring if you want to

1Just to start by saying this review isn’t bashing MyProtein in anyway, who are a great company, however this product is grim! 1. The taste is nasty 2. The texture is nasty (even blending for a few minutes you still get the nasty clumps) I would strongly recommend trying MyProtein’s Hemp Protein instead which tastes really earthy and fresh, rather than this clumpy cardboard! I appreciate the protein content in Hemp is lower, so the way around this is to whack another scoop in. Simple!Goes Well With:Having no tastebuds

Revolting taste
1Got this because it has no extras. However, it tastes really awful. Really hard to get through - I'd recommend getting flavour drops to make it palatable. The powder itself is quite chalky in consistency and doesn't mix as well as whey powders.

Great for gains
5If taste doesn't matter, one of the better protein shakes there. High in protein and no extra stuff. Has a natural taste. Would recommend!

Guilt free, flavour free
4Chances are if you're looking at brown rice protein it's for ethical or dietary reasons, so milk based either isn't an option or you'd rather avoid it. The main criticism in these reviews is the taste. Does this taste as good as a double chocolate fudge whey smoothie (aka a milkshake)? No. It's powdery and tastes horrendous unless mixed with something like peanut butter or banana. Is it the best plant based protein powder? IMO yes. It's cheap, it's got a relatively high protein content compared to other options, brown rice is grown in abundance and far, far more friendly to the environment and animals than milk production. I've not seen any change in hunger or muscle mass since switching from whey. But, at the end of the day, it's better for the environment and animals, so it's worth the loss of flavour for me.Goes Well With:I blend a scoop of brown rice protein with soy milk, a scoop of instant oats, half a frozen banana and some dark roasted peanut butter. The frozen banana gives it a milkshake texture and sweetness, and the dark roast is strong enough to cover the protein.
